Sokimex is the equivalent of BP or Petronas...so I was quite surprised when we cycled into Stoung, a town with no street lights...and found a hotel with this caliber name. Turns out it is just a name...and all hope for a bit of civilization a dashed! But its a bed...so I shouldn't complain!
- Location: 5/5 - I didn't expect to see anything in this small town...this was central to the stall foods and right on the main street so easy to find when you have pedal weary legs...
- Cleanliness: 3/5 - ok...as far as scruffy hotels go. The stairs going to the rooms are a bit of a mess and the restaurant is a tad scruffy...but the room was ok with a clean towel.
- Room: 2/5 - I had high hopes...but it was just basic. Bed, shower room where you have to shower on the loo cos it is so small and bizarrely a tv?!? But there was only 1 channel and no volume down button! Main downside was the building work going on adjoining the room which was very noisy...and the power cuts which cut the fan and make you sweat like mad.
- Food: 4/5 - restaurant is quite good, with a lot of variety...and they understand what fried rice is! Only problem was they wouldn't cook anything for breakfast which cost us time in the morning.
- Service: 3/5 - they helped take our many bags upstairs (and there were a lot of steep stairs) which was good of them. The they wouldn't cook any breakfast cos they wanted to prepare for a wedding...I hinted loudly we would eat what they were tucking into - but they didn't take the hint....
- Price: 5/5 - cheapest place yet at $3...so I shouldn't really complain!
